World Wrestling Entertainment's WrestleMania 24 pay-per-view takes place this Sunday night and for those of you in the United Kingdom, it airs live on Sky Box Office.
But if you can't or won't shell out the money to order the PPV live, whether you're in the UK, Europe, the United States or anywhere else, fear not, as OddsPreview.com will have live match-by-match coverage of WWE's biggest event of the year. We're building up to WrestleMania by discussing various topics relating to Sunday's show. In this edition, Phil Lowe and Mark Bright are looking ahead to one of the most anticipated matches of the night with the question: Who can benefit the most from Ric Flair retiring? Mark Bright: I'm not sure how to answer this really, as I think Flair should be kept off of WWE television for a long while, as in at least 18 months.
If he does what Mick Foley did in 2000 and is back on TV within 3 weeks, then Flair goes back to being just another guy, after being treated as somebody special in the last month of his active career.
If they end Flair's career with Michaels winning via unwanted interference from a hot young heel such as MVP or Mr. Kennedy then you can feud them with Michaels, as they will have the natural heat on them for both ending Flair's career and being able to take that momentum into an angle with one of the top babyfaces in the WWE. |

As for what Flair does, I'd have him take some time off, then after a couple of months away I'd bring him back in some kind of backstage role, helping out as an agent in terms of putting matches together or working on finishes - a role that lots of Flair's 1980s contemporaries such as Mike Rotundo, Arn Anderson, Ricky Steamboat and Barry Windham have today.
I think his experience would be invaluable in this role, as it's clear just how much the current roster looks up to and respects him.
Phil Lowe: For me, not one person will benefit from Ric Flair's retirement. Just about everybody can.
If last Monday night's edition of Raw taught us one thing, it is that scripted promo's are nothing compared to the "old" method of giving a wrestler bullet points, and letting him go out there and say what he has to say in his own words - within reason anyway.
Go back to Raw and watch Ric Flair's promo which was the best promo seen on WWE television this year. Then, hit the rewind button on your Sky+, and go back to the top of the show, and listen to John Cena's promo.
Now, I'll admit Cena can talk. But when everything is given to him and he comes out trying to be all cute with what he says, more often than not he comes over like a poor man's version of The Rock.
Flair's role in the WWE after he retires is, for me, simple. Let him be the promo guy. Let him help youngsters to cut a promo in the ring, or backstage. If that happens, and WWE eases up on its policy of scripting promo's for its young wrestlers, everybody will benefit.
Let Flair work with guys like Shelton Benjamin, Harry "DH" Smith, Cody Rhodes and others in the company who are the future. All three names I've mentioned there have the ability in the ring, but they aren't the complete package.
Benjamin has been crying out for a mouthpiece or help with his promos for a few years now. He's had excellent matches with the likes of Triple H and Shawn Michaels, but WWE have always held back on pushing him.
Let Flair work with him - either behind the scenes or initially as an on-screen mouthpiece (after a considerable amount of time off television following his retirement) - and the benefits will soon show.
