Venus Williams says she always felt a Wimbledon final showdown with her sister Serena was on the cards.

After a week of shocks in SW19 which has seen top seed Ana Ivanovic and former champion Maria Sharapova dumped out of the tournament, the bookies now make an all-Williams final their favourite scenario.

But Venus, who continues her bid for a fifth Wimbledon title against Alisa Kleybanova on Monday, says she always felt a clash with Serena was more than a possibility.

She said: "The chances were wonderful from the beginning, from round one. That's how we see it.

"The more we progress, the closer it gets. But, personally, I'm really focused on my next round."

The pair met in the 2002 and 2003 finals at the All England Club and they will take a step closer to a third title decider if they win their last-16 ties on Monday.

Serena faces fellow American Bethanie Mattek in her match, although both sisters will have to survive the curse of Court Two, which has claimed many a former champion in years gone by.
