Venus vs. Serena: Bet now!

Venus (evens) and Serena (8/11) Williams meet in the final of Wimbledon for the third time on Saturday with both sisters strenuously denying their will be any predetermined result.

Both siblings are prepared to give it their all for a shot at SW19 glory, with Venus holding the title from last year but Serena boasting a 2-0 victory in previous Wimbledon finals in which the two have met each other.

In fact, out of the six finals the two have contested, Venus has won only one, the US Open in 2001. Serena - who is 5/1 to take the first set 6-4 - has triumphed in all four grandslam finals against her sister, including the two at the All England Club.

Venus - 6/4 to win the first set before going on to win the match - has not lost a single set through the duration of the tournament, but then again neither has her sister. The pair came into the grass court grandslam with a world ranking and seeding of sixth (Serena) and seventh (Venus), which many believe to be unrepresentative as the figures have been affected by the limited schedule the sisters operate on the WTA Tour.

It could be said that both ladies have enjoyed paths to the final that have not been the toughest.

While Serena faced Amelie Mauresmo on her way to play wildcard Jie Zheng in the semi-finals where Venus took care of fifth seed, Elena Dementieva of Russia, both have been spared the test of match-ups against the likes of Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, who fell to lower ranked opponents.

Both girls are powerful servers, with Venus slamming down a scorching 127mph ace at match point to seal victory against Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez 6-1 7-5 back in the third round.

The serve broke the record the fastest recorded by a lady at Wimbledon. With that in mind, punters may be tempted to back odds of 11/10 that there will be a serve above 125.5 mph in the match, with odds of 4/6 that there will not.

Serena is 2/1 to overpower her sister 2-0 in sets and 11/4 to get the better of a three-set contest and Venus certainly appears under no illusions as to the challenge facing her.

Commenting on the formidable all-round game possessed by her sister - who is 5/4 to come from one set down to win the match - Venus said: "On the court, she's always Serena Williams. She's tenacious. She's got every shot no matter what. You can't bet against her."

Meanwhile, Serena - who currently has right grandlams under her belt to Venus's six, commented: "This is a grandslam. This is history. We both are trying to make our mark. We're just talking grandslam totals. That's what counts."
