Defending champion Lee Westwood was overtaken at the top of the leaderboard on day two of the Andalucia Open by Swede Peter Hedblom and Matthew Millar.

Westwood mixed three birdies with four bogeys, including a three-putt at the last, to slide back to joint sixth.

Hedblom sank an eagle at the fifth as he got round in 67 to share the lead with Australian Millar on eight under.

They lead in Aloha by one shot from English pair Richard Dinwiddie and David Lynn, and Frenchman Thomas Levet.

Westwood looked to be showing some form as he led after day one but struggled to get to grips with the course second time around.

"The greens are a bit trickier - they get a bit iffy," said Westwood, who needed three attempts from six feet at the last.

"I probably deserved better than 73, but you have days like that."

Hedblom improved on his first-round score of 69 as he sank an eagle putt from 25 feet and holed off the green at both the seventh and 13th to be round in 67.

Millar, who had to go back to qualifying school to regain his Tour card last November, improved from joint fourth with a 69.

He said: "I've never led at halfway before, but I felt I was going to play good."

One shot adrift of Millar is tour rookie Dinwiddie, whose 65 included eight birdies and was the best round of the day.

"I've been looking forward to playing the European Tour since I was a kid," said the 25-year-old.

Former Ryder Cup player Levet, also on seven under, would have been joint leader but for a closing bogey.

Bradley Dredge finished alongside Westwood on six under and the Welshman needs to win on Sunday to climb back into the world's top 50 in time to earn a place in the Masters.

There was disappointment Darren Clarke who missed the cut after rounds of 73 and 76.
