New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori is confident of being fit for next week's first Test at Lord's.

Vettori will find this weekend whether an injury to the index finger of his left hand is serious enough to prevent him from facing England.

He has been forced to miss the warm-up match against the England Lions, which begins on Thursday at Hampshire's Rose Bowl.

"I'm having the stitches taken out on Saturday or Sunday and I'll know a little bit more then," Vettori said.

"I'm confident, but I've never dealt with this before and it's in the worst possible spot."
