UFC - Bisping plans to go right to the top in the UFC @ Tuesday February 19

Michael Bisping says he plans to go right to the top in the UFC ahead of his UFC 83 bout with Charles McCarthy.

Britain's top UFC fighter is coming off his first ever UFC loss after winning his first three bouts, but admits that his much-debated loss to Rashad Evans acted as a wake-up call.

And after training with UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Bisping believes he has never been so focused ahead of his April 19 fight.

"I did a bit of training with Quinton over the past week, we trained together for about six weeks last summer so we're pretty close friends and it's good to have a spar every now and then," Bisping told Setanta Sports.

"He's a first class veteran of the sport, he's had over 40 fights and experience counts for an awful lot in Mixed Martial Arts.

"He's also got a few tricks that he's kind enough to share but I won't be telling you any of those!

"We have a good tear-up when we're training, although we don't quite go hell-for-leather. It's a balancing act, you have to be a good training partner - train hard but not like an idiot - otherwise for some reason people stop wanting to train with you!"

Bisping lost to Evans via split decision at UFC 78, and while he admits he is still unsure if the outcome of the fight should have gone against him, he is using the decision as motivation.

"My fight with Rashad was really close and a lot of people have said to me since then that they thought I should have won.

"I think he landed a late takedown which probably went a long way to sealing the deal with the judges, but maybe my work-rate should have been higher.

"It's an easy thing to say 'I should have done this or that' after the event but it's a heck of a lot more difficult when you've got a bloke swinging and trying to knock your head off!

"Anyway, the old cliche says that you learn more from your losses and I believe the changes I've made since that fight will make me an improved fighter.

"My preparation is a lot different now, I'm taking more time out to plan my fights better and diet more carefully, I've looked at my sparring partners and stuff like that.

"And obviously I've also dropped down to middleweight, I was always undersized at light-heavyweight but whilst I was winning I couldn't see the point in changing weights.

"Now that I'm at middleweight, I plan to go right to the top."
