DAILY MIRROR: Sir Alex Ferguson turned on Real Madrid last night in the latest twist to the Cristiano Ronaldo saga by claiming he would not even let his own sons join the Spanish giants. Also: England skipper Michael Vaughan admitted a "confused selection" led to a humiliating 10-wicket loss to South Africa in the Second Test at Leeds yesterday.

DAILY STAR: Sir Alex Ferguson last night warned Cristiano Ronaldo: Joining Real Madrid would be the worst thing you could do. Also: Spurs have handed the Premier League a dossier of evidence from the past 12 months backing up their complaint against Manchester United's pursuit of Dimitar Berbatov.

DAILY EXPRESS: Michael Vaughan admitted last night that England's team spirit had been fractured by the controversial changes before the Headingley Test. Also: Sir Alex Ferguson has stoked up the heat with Real Madrid, saying joining them would be the "worst thing" that Cristiano Ronaldo could do.

DAILY MAIL: Michael Vaughan sifted through the wreckage of England's heaviest Test defeat at home for five years last night and said a "confused" selection had left his team in a shambolic state going into the match. Also: Frank Lampard has been told he is an integral part of manager Luiz Felipe Scolari's plans - and his former boss Jose Mourinho has conceded the Chelsea midfielder is unlikely to move to Inter Milan this season.

Also: Padraig Harrington effectively called on Nick Faldo yesterday to include Colin Montgomerie in the Europe Ryder Cup team if the Scot fails to qualify automatically for the side that will take on the United States in Kentucky in September.

DAILY TELEGRAPH: Arsenal received more bad news yesterday when Tomas Rosicky admitted he will miss the start of the Premier League campaign. Also: Tottenham have handed the Premier League a dossier of evidence compiled over the last year to back up their complaint against Manchester United over their pursuit of Dimitar Berbatov.

THE INDEPENDENT: Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up new bids for the Russia internationals Roman Pavlyuchenko and Andrei Arshavin as they face the prospect of losing their three first-choice strikers over the next two weeks. Also: Chelsea may not have made a "bid" for Kaka, as their chief executive, Peter Kenyon, asserted yesterday, but the club's owner, Roman Abramovich, did make it clear to Milan at a meeting earlier this month that he would pay whatever it takes to sign the Brazilian.

THE GUARDIAN: The future of Emmanuel Adebayor remains uncertain after the forward refused to guarantee he would stay with Arsenal during discussions with his manager, Arsene Wenger, yesterday. Also: Blackburn Rovers are resigned to losing David Bentley but John Williams, the chairman at Ewood Park, says the England international will not be allowed to leave unless the club's asking price is met.
