Maria Sharapova says she is determined to emulate the success she had in winning Wimbledon in 2004.

The 21-year-old told BBC London 94.9: "I feel like I won it so long ago. I really want to re-live that moment again, it's such a thrill winning.

"It came so unexpectedly and it's been years now and I'm so looking forward to hopefully getting the chance of holding up that trophy again."

Sharapova was just 17 when she won in 2004, becoming the second youngest Wimbledon champion in the Open era.

The Russian has since gone on to win another two Grand Slams.

Sharapova added: "It was the first Grand Slam I won and ever since I was a junior I was such a big fan of the tournament. I love the tradition of it and I love the fact that they're just real big fans of tennis.

"Sometimes words just can't describe it because I won it at a really unexpected stage of my career where I didn't really think that I was physically or mentally ready to win a Grand Slam, especially Wimbledon at that point.

"These thoughts go through your mind, what brought me here, was it the sacrifice, the hard work. What actually made it happen today. You know it's amazing, you put all that work in and you just never know when it's going to pay off."

Sharapova added to her Grand Slam trophy cabinet in 2006, where she won the US Open. Earlier this year she won the Australian Open.
