Celtic have completed the signing of Georgios Samaras on a permanent deal from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

Samaras spent the second half of last season on loan at Parkhead and had been keen to stay with the SPL champions.

He scored 12 goals in 65 appearances for City before relaunching his career with Celtic earlier this year.

Though he started only five games for the Bhoys, Samaras chipped in with six goals in all competitions and has the opportunity to play Champions League football in the coming season.

"I am really happy with this move and I think both sides are really happy," Samaras told the club's official website after agreeing a three-year deal.

"I wanted to stay here, Celtic wanted to keep me here and both sides are happy with this transfer.

"Last season was four really enjoyable months for me and a great experience for me to play in both the Scottish Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

"I think we finished in the best possible way, winning the championship and I am really proud of what we achieved.

"It was the best moment in my career so far and I am really happy that I have signed here and I hope that more good moments come for both me and the club."
