Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that Joey Barton was not a transfer target on deadline day.

Both Portsmouth and Everton had been linked with the midfielder.

But Redknapp said: "I do not know where it came from because it's absolute rubbish.

"It's just ridiculous, that's all I can say. I was at Fulham watching our reserves play and then all of a sudden people kept asking about Joey Barton.

"People were ringing me up going on about him, but it was complete news to me - and you'd think I would know."
