UEFA Cup finalists Rangers have abandoned plans for an open top bus tour through Glasgow because of the death of Celtic legend Tommy Burns.

The team will instead acknowledge their supporters at Ibrox.

"It would be wholly inappropriate to take part in a public procession through Glasgow," a statement said.

"The club would like to extend its sincere condolences to the family of Tommy Burns at this very sad time."
