Patsy Hall will miss the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree on Saturday.

The eight-year-old 20-1 chance finished fourth behind An Accordion in the WilliamHill Trophy Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last time.

His trainer Tony Martin said: "I talked things over with his owner and we decided, as Patsy Hall is only eight and is a second season novice, that it might be over-facing him to run him in the National.

"Next year could be his year and by missing the race on Saturday, it will give him more time to get over his run at Cheltenham. We'll look at finding something else for him before the end of the season."
