Jose Maria Olazabal is hopeful of making his latest comeback from injury in the near future.

The Spaniard has been suffering from extreme fatigue, possibly caused by the medication prescribed to combat the rheumatism which kept him out of action from last August until March.

Olazabal last played competitively at the Open qualifier seven weeks ago at Sunningdale where he lost out in a play-off.

Since then there have been reports that his health has seriously deteriorated, but his manager, Sergio Garcia, has now stepped in to deny such rumours insisting his client is very much on the mend.

"Jose has stopped taking the medication and all the blood tests and scans and everything are saying that he is in very good shape regarding the illness itself," Garcia stated.

"He is back practising and hoping to enter a tournament before the Ryder Cup."

Olazabal will be attending the Ryder Cup as one of European skipper Nick Faldo's vice-captains.

The Spaniard and Paul McGinley were selected by Faldo in May last year, but McGinley subsequently decided to resign the post in order to focus on qualifying for the a place on the team.

Faldo has still to name a replacement, although with McGinley now out of the race for qualification he could yet turn back to the Dubliner ahead of next month's clash at Valhalla.
