Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden has hinted he may retire. Ogden, an 11-time Pro Bowl selection, is contemplating his future because of a hyperextended big toe which has yet to heal properly. "I have not officially retired, but the Ravens know to proceed with their off-season plans as if I'm retiring," Ogden told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "So if I come back, it's great, they said, but they're proceeding as if I'm not."Skybet - Man Utd, Liverpool & Arsenal to win - Evens League 1 - Doncaster, Leeds & Swansea to win - 11/1 Place your first bet and we'll match it up to £20 The 33-year-old was restricted to 10 starts last season, a consequence of the injury - torn tendons beneath the ball of his foot and a partially torn tendon beneath his big toe - that he originally sustained while playing against the Cleveland Browns in November 2006. "It's just frustrating because I couldn't play, especially this last year, at the level that I'm used to playing at, and that kind of irritates me," he added. "I'm a perfectionist out there on the football field and that's kind of why I'm leaning toward retiring."
Ogden, who stands at 6ft 9in and weighs almost 345lbs, was the fourth overall selection in the 1996 draft and has spent his entire 12-season professional career with the Ravens, including a Super Bowl victory in 2001. |
