Quarterback Rex Grossman will remain with the Chicago Bears next season after agreeing terms on a new deal. The 27-year-old has signed a one-year contract that means he will remain with the team who drafted him in the first round back in 2003. He is expected to be given another go as the team's starter, despite struggling last year. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. After leading the Bears to the Super Bowl the season before, Grossman started just seven games, completing 122-of-225 passes for 1,411 yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Veteran Brian Griese took over under centre for six games while Kyle Orton also got a chance to start before the end of the campaign. Free agent linebacker Zach Thomas has agreed to a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys. The 34-year-old, a seven-time Pro Bowler, was available after being released by the Miami Dolphins. He also attracted interest from the New England Patriots and the New Orleans but decided to sign with the Cowboys so he could return to his native Texas. Thomas missed 11 games last season due to migraines and concussions before eventually being placed on injured reserve by the Dolphins. |
