Nalbandian suffers shock French Open exit @ Thursday May 29

Sixth seed and former semi-finalist David Nalbandian suffered a humiliating second-round defeat by world number 145 Jeremy Chardy at the French Open.

The sixth seed was in total control at two sets up but could not withstand a fightback from Chardy that gave the Frenchman a 3-6 4-6 6-2 6-1 6-2 win.

Nalbandian even broke first in the decider but was unable to capitalise.

Seventh seed James Blake also made an early exit, losing 7-6 (7-2) 3-6 7-5 6-3 to Latvian teenager Ernests Gulbis.

World number 80 Gulbis had won back-to-back matches just twice this year before arriving in Paris, but chalked up his first win over a top-10 player this season.
