British number one Andy Murray suffered a disappointing second round defeat at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
The Scot, playing his first match of the week after receiving a bye through the first round, struggled throughout against Croatian Mario Ancic and eventually crashed out 6-2 2-6 7-6. But Murray fought back, finding his range on serve and it was he who this time claimed two service breaks to level the match and take it into a decider. Both players dropped serve twice, but it was Ancic who came out on top after almost two-and-a-half hours on court, saving two match points - Murray double-faulting on the second - in the tie-break to win it 9-7. "That was just a bad serve," Murray said. "It was the first time on tour that I've lost a match when I've had match points. So that's pretty disappointing." World number one Roger Federer eased past Gael Monfils of France 6-3 6-4 in his first match of the tournament, while Andy Roddick overcame the loss of the first set before coming thorugh against qualifier Victor Troiki of Serbia. |
