Colin Montgomerie's Ryder Cup hopes hang in the balance after he failed to make an impact on the last day of the Johnnie Walker Championship.

The Scot needs a wildcard to make the European team - which captain Nick Faldo will name on Sunday evening - but ended on one over at Gleneagles.

"If I get selected it'll be fantastic. If I don't I wish the team every success," said the 45-year-old Scot.

Faldo has two wildcard picks with Ian Poulter, Darren Clarke, Paul Casey, Martin Kaymer, Ross Fisher, Montgomerie and Dougherty battling it out for selection.
