Colin Montgomerie's hopes of reaching the Masters were dealt a major setback after missing the cut in the Johnnie Walker Classic in India.

The Scot, who needs to move into the world top 50 to qualify for Augusta, added a four-over-par 76 to his opening round of 74, finishing in the last 12.

Ian Poulter, who also carded a first round score of 76, also missed out despite an improved second round of 68.

India's Shiv Kapur and Australia's Unho Park lead the field at 10 under.

Kapur registered a seven-under 65, including an eagle at the par-five sixth, while Park carded a 66, adding to his first-round of 68 on Thursday.

The duo lead India's Jyoti Randhawa and Japan's Taichiro Kiyota by one shot, while world number five is in contention at eight under, along with Britons Phillip Archer and Graeme Storm.

Archer missed setting a new course record by just one shot during his superb round of 64, which included an eagle and six birdies.

"I don't like to say it was easy but it felt very easy with no stress," said the 35-year-old.

"I hit it close a few times and made a few decent 15 footers. When you hole them and knock your six footers in, it feels easy."

Three-time major winner Vijay Singh is two shots adrift on six under.

Kapur, who had been suffering from a bout of flu earlier in the week, shot another accomplished round at the par-72 DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon.

"At the start of the week, if somebody had said I would be leading now I would probably have laughed in their face," said the 26-year-old.

"Yesterday my nose was like a tap and every time I stood over a putt it was hard to concentrate.

"Sometimes it's better when you're sick because you're not thinking about technique or external factors, you're just trying to get through the round. I think that worked in my favour."
