McGrane holds his nerve to win China Open @ Sunday April 20

Damien McGrane held his nerve at the Volvo China Open to secure his maiden Tour victory.

The Irishman did not need to be at his best over the final 18, with his one-over-par round more that enough to see him lift the title as his rivals all fell away.

In tricky conditions, all challengers fell away, to leave McGrane nine shots clear on 10-under for the tournament.

"It was very difficult today," McGrane told Sky Sports. "But I had belief in my game and I have learned from a lot of experiences over the years on the Tour.

"I am glad to have this first win. To be honest I can't believe it.

"I am so happy to have won. It has been my ambition for a while and I have been talking about winning for the last two years.

"For my family, friends, all my sponsors and supporters, this is what it is about. It is nice to get this first one."
