Newcastle United have parted company with assistant manager Terry McDermott and reserve team coach Adam Saddler. The decision was made on Monday morning, just four days after manager Kevin Keegan quit St James' Park for the second time. Chris Hughton has been named caretaker manager of the club and will take charge of the side for this weekend's game at home to Hull. McDermott, a former Magpies player, had a long coaching association with the club dating back to Keegan's first stint in charge in 1992. He also worked under Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, Glenn Roeder and Sam Allardyce in the North East. |
Former youth team goalkeeper Sadler worked at the club's academy until being promoted by Roeder in 2006.
Academy director Richard Money and academy coach Alan Thompson will assist Hughton on Saturday.
