Master Minded, winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, is tipped to add to that success at Aintree on Friday. The five-year-old, trained by Paul Nicholls, gave a stunning performance in March to become the top-ranked steeplechaser currently in training. And observers believed the victory was as good as any seen in decades. He lines up in the Melling Chase at 3.10pm, with Voy Por Ustedes, second at Cheltenham, leading the opposition. Irish trainer John Murphy believes his entry, Newmill, has chances of a place as conditions are in his favour for the race. The Melling Chase is run over two and a half miles, so is a longer trip than the Champion Chase - and the ideal distance for Newmill. Murphy said: "It's the first time in a long time he's had his ground, so hopefully he'll put up a good performance. "I just hope he runs well and gets placed. "He's up against it but it will be interesting to see how he gets on over two and a half on good ground. "I think he'll get the trip on that type of track. I hope he does and he's in good form."
