Manchester United or Arsenal will have to break the world record transfer fee to land France striker Karim Benzema.

French champions Lyon have slapped an £80million price tag on the 20-year-old, who has been linked with both Premier League sides.

Benzema has bagged five goals in Ligue 1 this season and hit the target in his side's Champions League Group F opener against Fiorentina earlier this month.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said: "We have signed a contract with him until 2013, with a get-out clause of 100million euros."
