Lisbon Treaty Referendum - (Twenty) Seven Nation Army?

Aside from "Huh?" and "Am I expected to read the whole thing?" one of the biggest questions surrounding the Lisbon Treaty Referendum is regarding the threat to Ireland's whenever-it-suits-us-neutrality.

In an open letter to the Irish people published in the Star, Taoiseach Brian Cowen insists that we'll be free to pick and choose who we support depending on how it benefits the country economically in future.

"I can assure you that Ireland will never be forced to join any European Army," he declared before not adding "the EU could never afford the Guinness and kebab budget required to bring out an Irishman's true fighting spirit."

With the vote going down to the wire the 2/1 for a No Vote looks too good to reject!
