Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has agreed a two-year extension to his contract.

Kuszczak, 26, initially moved to Old Trafford on loan from West Brom in 2006 before making the switch permanent last summer.

He has signed a new deal that ties him to the club until 2012.

"For the club to offer me an extension when I still have two years left shows the trust and support that I have from the club and Sir Alex Ferguson," said Kuszczak.

"I am so happy as I have had a great time so far but there is still so much to prove and I want to continue working hard to ensure my position within this great team."

Ferguson added that he was thrilled to have secured the future of a player he rates highly.

The United boss said: "We always like to sit down with all our young players as we want to look ahead and protect our future.

"Top goalkeepers are hard to find and I believe we have three of the best here and by securing Tomasz's future we can consolidate ours."
