Amir Khan will be trained by promoter Frank Warren's matchmaker Dean Powell for his next fight on 21 June. Khan earlier this week parted company with Oliver Harrison, who trained him for all 17 of his professional fights so far. Khan's father Shah said the Olympic silver medallist had split because of "a breakdown in communications". But earlier this week, Harrison said he was mystified by the Commonwealth lightweight champion's decision to dump him on the brink of a world title shot. |
Khan will not decide on a permanent trainer until after the fight against an as yet unnamed opponent and could look to America for help.
The Commonwealth and WBO Intercontinental lightweight champion will fight at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
