Roy Jones Jr plans to line up a fight with Joe Calzaghe in Cardiff, even if the Welshman loses to Bernard Hopkins.

"The Millennium Stadium might be the place we go - 77,000 people, I could do that," 39-year-old Jones told BBC Sport.

"I'll probably make a two-fight deal with one in the UK and, if it's a great fight, another in the United States."

Jones, who has a record of 52 wins from 56 fights, was a world champion at middle, super-middle, light-heavy and heavyweight and defeated Hopkins when they fought for the vacant IBF middleweight crown in 1993.

However, he is now past his prime, and has since lost two bouts with Antonio Tarver in 2004 and 2005.

But a match with Calzaghe in Cardiff would still be a huge draw, and Jones added: "At the time, when I was on top of the world, why would I go to another guy's place?

"I'm asking for a bad decision if I do that. That would have been stupid on my part. If I'm the best, come and beat me at home. I was willing and ready, but it never happened.

"But it's distinct possibility if Calzaghe beats Hopkins, and if he loses it's a distinct possibility.

"It could be the first big fight under my promotional banner and I could do something with Frank Warren over there.

"It's important that Calzaghe came over to America to prove he's a great fighter, but it's also important that he came here so that the public know who I'm trying to whup."

Jones believes Calzaghe will beat Hopkins in Las Vegas on Saturday night, but only if he sticks to his usual gameplan.

"I think Joe will outwork Bernard, but they tell me he's thinking about trying to out-punch Bernard and be more economical," said Jones.

"If he throws less punches he might get beaten. That would be falling into Hopkins' trap. Hopkins is a smart guy, he tries to make you think what he thinks, that's his game.

"If he comes out and fights with his usual work-rate and throws as many punches as he usually does, hell beat Bernard easily. If he doesn't, he'll lose the fight.

"Calzaghe has wonderful skills and he's a lot better boxer than people give him credit for.

"He's slick, he's got good speed, good power and he throws a massive amount of punches.

"The extra weight won't bother him at all and I don't see many weaknesses in him, although it might be his heart, because he's game, and when he gets hit, he goes right back at you and opens up."
