India ready for Pakistan showdown @ Monday June 9

India will be without pace bowler Sree Santh for their first tri-series game against rivals Pakistan on Tuesday.

The paceman, who will be out for two weeks with a side strain and miss the entire series, will be replaced by uncapped seamer Manpreet Gony.

Gony, who starred in the Indian Premier League, will join another uncapped player, left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, in the India squad.

Pakistan are likely to be unchanged after beating Bangladesh in the opening game.

Salman Butt and Mohammad Yousuf impressed with the bat in that match, while Shahid Afridi's 3-19 off eight overs proved crucial in the 70-run victory.

India, meanwhile, are already without star batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who will sit out of both the tri-series and the Asia Cup due to a groin injury.

As well as Gony and Ojha, all-rounder Yusuf Pathan is yet to play a 50-over one-day international for his country - but did play in the World Twenty20 final victory against Pakistan last year.

However, coach Gary Kirsten insists his side are more than capable of beating Pakistan.

"India and Pakistan matches are always electrifying," he said. "But our players are totally motivated, and the intensity is there to continue the good form in one-day cricket."
