Dinara Safina kept her impressive run at the German Open going with a straight-sets win over Victoria Azarenka in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Safina beat Justine Henin in round three before ending Serena Williams's 17-match winning streak in the event.

And the Russian saw off Azarenka of Belarus 6-4 6-1 to reach the final.

Elena Dementieva takes on Ana Ivanovic in the second semi, Ivanovic earlier wrapping up victory in her delayed match against Agnes Szavay.

Second seed Ivanovic was level at one set all with Szavay on Friday when play was suspended due to darkness, and the Serb returned to complete 3-6 6-4 6-3 victory.
