Johnny Murtagh rode OddsPreview.com's Tip of the Day Henrythenavigator to victory in the Boylesports Irish 2000 Guineas on Saturday afternoon.

The colt completed the Anglo-Irish Guineas double and the same three came home in the same order at the Curragh as at Newmarket.

Aidan O'Brien's horse was followed home by New Approach and Stubbs Art but was a much more convincing winner this time around.

Jim Bolger's New Approach was sent off the 11/10 favourite but Henrythenavigator (5/4) always seemed to be cruising in behind the front two.

When Murtagh asked for an effort in the final furlong, the colt went through the gears effortlessly and eased away to win by a couple of lengths with something in hand.

O'Brien said: "He is a very classy horse, he has fantastic speed. All the horses are coming forward from their first runs and obviously he has as well.

"All the options are open to him. He is still in the Derby, that is an option as well as Royal Ascot (St James's Palace). The boss (John Magnier) and Sue Magnier) will make that decision.

"He is a very classy horse. He has relaxed, quickened and done everything right."

Murtagh, who has enjoyed a fruitful start to his partnership with O'Brien, added: "I don't really know (if he will stay a mile and a half). If he did he would be a very high-class horse.

"Aidan O'Brien trains him and he is a great man - he will decide where he is going to go.

"Put it this way, if you said I had to ride him in the Derby it wouldn't be the end of the world - if he did stay he would be a great ride."

New Approach's trainer Bolger added: "I think it is unfair that we didn't have proper Guineas ground. There was no need to have firm ground and he was leaning left all the time. He will come back here for the Irish Derby if the ground is good."
