Australian Mathew Goggin and Americans Ryan Moore and Eric Axley fired matching three-under-par 67s to take the lead after the first round of the Byron Nelson Championship on Thursday. "It was pretty brutal out there, especially for a new course," Goggin told reporters, referring to gusts that got up to 40-mph at the renovated TPC Las Colinas. "This is what we got in Australia when I was growing up -- a heavy wind with a lot of humidity." Swede Jesper Parnevik, the 2000 champion, and Australian Adam Scott were in a group of eight players who shot 68. "I think they did a fine job on the course, but I couldn't figure out the greens at all," said Parnevik. Goggin, who mixed birdies at the fifth, sixth, seventh, 10th and 12th with bogeys at the second and 14th, is still looking for his first PGA victory. His compatriot Scott said he was looking to "jump-start" his season. He did not commit to playing in the tournament until last Friday, after flying home from the Masters and playing three good rounds at home. "I thought I should be back out on the Tour playing rather than wasting it back home, so I decided to come back," Scott said. Trevor Immelman, in his first competitive outing since winning the Masters earlier this month, blamed his victory celebrations and a host of subsequent media commitments after ballooning to an eight-over 78. "I was just totally out of gas," said the South African.
