Liverpool have confirmed captain Steven Gerrard has returned home for treatment on a groin injury. The England international had been in Switzerland at the team's training camp preparing for Saturday's clash with Polish outfit Wisla Krakow. Gerrard was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Lucerne and will now miss next week's clash with Hertha Berlin. "Steven has a slight groin strain which will keep him out for between seven and 10 days," club spokesman Ian Cotton told the club's official website. |
"He has left the training camp to return to Melwood where he will receive treatment on the injury."
