Djokovic reaches quarter-finals after comfortable win @ Sunday June 1

Third seed Novak Djokovic made short work of home favourite Paul-Henri Mathieu to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open.

The Serbian broke once in the first set and saved four break points in the second on his way to a 6-4 6-3 6-4 win.

Djokovic goes on to face Ernests Gulbis, the only Latvian ever to play in a Grand Slam.

The highly-rated 19-year-old was rarely troubled en route to a 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 win over France's Michael Llodra.

Reigning champion Rafael Nadal is scheduled to face fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco later on Sunday.

Djokovic was in fine form against Mathieu, with his serve particularly impressive.

The Serbian saved seven of eight break points he faced and was delighted with that part of his game.

"I've been serving really well in all four matches and it's really encouraging for the future as it something I want to have as a weapon," said Djokovic.
