England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff looks likely to miss June's one-day internationals against New Zealand as he continues to recover from injury.

Flintoff is nearly halfway through a six-week recovery programme after suffering a side strain, with the first one-dayer scheduled for June 15.

"I've still got a few weeks before I'm fit," said the 30-year-old.

"I saw (England selector) Geoff Miller and (England coach) Peter Moores last week and they're not going to rush me."

Miller is set to announce the one-day squad on Friday, with a Twenty20 game on June 13 followed by five one-day games later in the month.

If he remains on schedule, Flintoff should have completed his recovery from the side strain by June 19.

"I've not got a fixed date yet on when I can play," added Flintoff.

"I'm not sure what the chances are of me being fit for the England one-dayers .

"These things have a history of taking six weeks and it will be three weeks on Thursday since I did it."

Flintoff injured his side while bowling for Lancashire against Durham earlier this month.

The side strain injury came after Flintoff, who has not played for England since the 2006-07 Ashes series in Australia, underwent a fourth operation on his ankle last October

Flintoff could make his comeback in the final few matches of Lancashire's Twenty20 Cup qualifying group or their championship match against Sussex at Hove on 29 June.

England play their first Test South Africa at Lord's on July 10 in the opening match of the series but Flintoff is not setting himself any targets.

"I'd love to be involved against South Africa, but I think I learned my lesson from last time, building up and trying to play against New Zealand and it didn't happen," he said.

"I'm going to see how it goes. I'd love to play against South Africa obviously, but I'm not going to build it up too much because I don't want to get disappointed again."
