Indian Wells finalist Mardy Fish's recent run of form has come to an end at the Sony Ericsson Open.

The unseeded American, who knocked out world number one Roger Federer at the Pacific Life Open last week, was knocked out of the first round in Miami by France's Arnaud Clement.

Clement showed little sign of nerves in cruising to a 6-3 6-3 victory in just over an hour.

"It's pretty tough to come back a couple of days later," Fish said. "I mean, I only got here like two nights ago.

"With that being said, it's obviously a little disappointing to go out so early here. But I'm going to, obviously, take a lot of memories from last week."
