mark.bright@oddspreview.com For me, the best news of the F1 close-season was the fact that Ralf Schumacher finally sailed off into the sunset, hopefully never to return. But replacing him with Timo Glock doesn't fill me with too much confidence. Skybet - Place your first bet and we'll match it up to £20 Ok, so he did well in GP2 last year by all reports, but he's not coming into F1 with nearly the buzz that former champions Rosberg and Hamilton were. He's not even coming in with the same expectation as Vitantonio Liuzzi did, and he turned out to be a failure, his head turned by success far too early having achieved far too little to deserve it. Trulli is another solid veteran driver who you know what to expect from. He'll drag miracle performances from the car in qualifying, but in races for whatever reason he doesn't have the pace, and we'll be listening to Martin Brundle and James Allen go on and on about "The Trulli Train" as he leaves half a dozen cars queued up behind him. Toyota, as evidenced by the lack of an attempt to sign Alonso (after overpaying Ralf for so long), have no idea how to be successful in F1.
Points for Jarno occasionally, no podiums, and more general disappointment. |
