The disappointment of 2007 are, on the evidence of winter testing, looking at more of the same in 2008. This is such a waste of the talents of Jenson Button, on the surface of things.

I say on the surface of things because when he was getting good results in 2004 and 2005, he wasn't always the most popular person on the grid, mainly due to the terrible handling of the will he/won't he Williams/Honda saga where he moved, then didn't, then should've, but didn't want to, and luckily somebody clearly had a word with him, or he smartened up, and just decided to stick with Honda and get on with racing.

Last year, even though results didn't go his way, he knuckled down and got on with the job, and people took notice.

Within F1, Button's reputation was actually enhanced by the horrible 2007, even though the general public, especially in Britain, seem to have forgotten him as LewisMania hit in a big way.

Jensen will get on with the job, will drive his usual smooth style, and will get the absolute best possible results out of what is looking again like a season that won't be much fun.

Rubens Barrichello is basically too old and far past his best to be a major factor in F1 nowadays, and the convincing beating Button delivered to him last year should be repeated without too many issues.

The big move this team made over the winter was the signing of former Benetton and Ferrari tactical mastermind Ross Brawn as technical director. He is a huge signing for the team, but I think people's expectations might be a little on the high side.

I've heard talk from various people that things will turn around and Button will be winning races this year. To be fair, even Brawn himself has stated that really they're looking for 2009 to be the year where they make major progress.

That doesn't bode well for their 2008 prospects at all, and as a Button fan that's something that's very sad to hear.
