mark.bright@oddspreview.com The team formerly known as Spyker, and before that Midland, and before that Jordan, come into 2009 under the ownership of billionaire Vijay Mallaya. The only surprise is that they didn't stick some below-par driver in there like Narain Karthikayan.Skybet - Place your first bet and we'll match it up to £20 A surprise, but a good decision, as Giancarlo Fisichella, much like Coulthard, is just about the perfect driver to stick into a bad team and not rock the boat, just go out there and get the best out of it, make the team better, and get results. It's what he did at Jordan and Sauber in the past, before a move to Renault and the resulting hammering he received from Fernando Alonso basically ended his chances at being given a shot at a top team anytime soon. But Fisichella is good, and motivated to prove people wrong, so I expect him do perform well, relatively speaking. That is bad news for his teammate, Adrian Sutil, who finds himself at the opposite end of the grid, in the same situation as Robert Kubica. Sutil is a highly regarded young driver, and Fisichella is an experienced driver who has the reputation as not being good enough for a top team.
So, if Sutil doesn't beat Fisichella this year, and that's very possible given both how good Fisichella is and the fact that Sutil, while having excellent raw pace, is still very erratic and makes the kind of mistakes you won't see from his teammate, it would be a huge setback in his career and possibly even end his chances at a move to a team higher up the grid. |
