Turkey can keep their Euro 2008 hopes alive on Wednesday night by beating co-hosts Switzerland in Basel. The Turks, beaten 2-0 by a strongly fancied Portuguese side in their opening game of the tournament, are a general 12-5 for a match which both sides need to win if they are to progress. Switzerland were a little unfortunate in their 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Czech Republic, and for parts of the game looked the better side. That loss aside, the big problem for the Swiss is that captain and goal-machine Alexander Frei is out through injury for the remainder of the tournament. Although they have home advantage, that presents its own problems as the crowd is sure to want their side to make the running. And that could play into the hands of a Turkey outfit best suited to counter attacking. Switzerland are best priced 13-10 with Paddy Power, with the draw 12-5 with VC Bet.
Prices correct as of 9am. |
