The consolation of not being in the firing line should Big Phil Scolari start throwing digs was scant for Joachim Low as he was forced to watch Germany's excellent win over Portugal from the stands following his sending off during the game with Austria.

Clearly he's a sensitive soul as Low explains "the lonely vantage point was very strange. I have seldom been so far away."

In possibly the weirdest thing about the whole episode, Low reports "UEFA had laid on valerian and aspirin, which surprised me a bit."

After impressing in the quarter final, it'll be a bitter pill to swallow if the Mannschaft fall victim to another one of Turkey's late late shows!
