Eriksson's future to be decided on Monday @ Monday 12 May 2008, 07:45 AM

Sven Goran Eriksson's future as Manchester City manager is set to be decided on Monday.

There has been mounting speculation over the Swede's position after club owner Thaksin Shinawatra admitted he was planning to review the situation at the end of the season.

It has been widely predicted that the former England manager is set to be shown the door despite being given just one season at the helm.

Eriksson enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, but the club faded away after Christmas to eventually end the season in ninth place.

Their season ended on Sunday with an 8-1 thrashing City by Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, after which Eriksson admitted he wanted his future to be resolved as soon as possible.

It had been expected that an announcement would be made on Sunday evening, but Eriksson's agent Athole Still revealed that a meeting would now be held on Monday.

The City manager will head to the club's Carrington training ground where talks take place to discuss how to move forward.

Still told Sky Sports News: "Sven has had a long and tiring day, he's not up to discussing matters right now.

"He'll be at Carrington tomorrow and he will discuss matters at the club then."

Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has been strongly linked with the Eastlands hot-seat, while Eriksson could be set for a return to Benfica.
