Third Test, Trent Bridge
England 364 beat New Zealand 123 & 232 (England beat New Zealand by an innings and 9 runs)

Ryan Sidebottom bowled England to victory over New Zealand by an innings and nine runs on Sunday morning, taking four of the remaining five wickets to fall as the Kiwis slumped to 232 all out.

England's triumph gives them a 2-0 series win after the opening Test at Lord's was drawn, and plenty of confidence ahead of the four matches later this summer against South Africa.

New Zealand resumed on 177-5 but only Jacob Oram offered any resistance, making 50 not out from 39 balls before James Anderson completed the rout with the wicket of Chris Martin.

But Sidebottom was the hero of the second innings, finishing with figures of six for 67 after a fine performance on the fourth morning.

The Kiwis required a further 64 to make England bat again but added just 20 to their overnight score before Gareth Hopkins edged a full length ball to Tim Ambrose.

Eight more runs were added before Daniel Vettori was tempted into driving an outswinger straight to Kevin Pietersen at gully, and Kyle Mills nicked Sidebottom to Andrew Strauss who took the simp[lest of slip catches.

Iain O'Brien edged one for four prior to picking out Paul Collingwood, diving to his left at second slip, before Anderson added a second wicket to his seven in the first innings when Martin edged to Collingwood in similar fashion.

Oram remained unbeaten and gave the crowd - undoubtedly wanting to see more action on a beautiful day in the Midlands - something to cheer with a couple of lusty blows, one pull off Stuart Broad and another off Anderson into the stands.
