Nadal breezed to victory to complete successive straight sets wins over German opponents - adding to his win over qualifier Benjamin Becker in the previous round.

The second seed revealed his delight at his performance, especially after being forced off the court twice in Miami due to rain interruptions.

"Well, it was not the best day (with the rain) but I was playing unbelievable in the beginning, playing very well, hitting the ball very well, and playing almost the perfect match." Nadal said.

"So I was very happy about my victory. When I came back to the court the ball was a little bigger and slower, and it was a little bit more difficult for me."

Nadal will now face number 16 seed Paul-Henri Mathieu who recorded an impressive 7-6 (7-1) 7-5 win over Spanish opponent Carlos Moya.
