Bolton boss Gary Megson says that El-Hadji Diouf could still be at the club next season, despite the forward announcing that he will be leaving. Diouf has another year on his deal but recently stated he would leave during the summer. "He's made this statement about this being his last season," said Megson. "But he's a great character and I know he will say one thing one minute and another the next. He's a temperamental person and I don't want him to go." If Diouf is to leave then Megson insists Bolton will not let him go on the cheap, even though he will be able to leave for free next summer. |
His opening goal in the 2-0 victory against Sunderland was his sixth of the season and put his side on the way to three points which all but secured their top-flight status.
"If somebody does come in for him they are going to have to pay a lot of money to get him," added the Trotters boss.
"Then they're going to have pay Dioufy what we pay him in wages - which is a lot of money as well.
"It's not a done deal that he will be going and there have to be a lot of things that trigger any move.
"I don't want him to go but if he does then it will be the best for Bolton and nothing else - and we'll make sure we get a good fee for him."
