Davydenko reaches second round after comprehensive win @ Tuesday May 27

Fourth seed Nikolay Davydenko opened his French Open campaign with a comprehensive 6-3 6-3 6-3 win over Sweden's Thomas Johansson.

The Russian world number four had treatment for a thigh problem during the rain-interrupted match but it did not seem to hamper him. Johansson was broken five times and failed to convert the single break point he engineered.

Davydenko meets fellow Russian Marat Safin or Jean-Rene Lisnard next.

Elsewhere, ourth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova beat the showers in Paris to reach the second round of the women's tournament.

The Russian, a finalist in 2006, cruised past Japan's Aiko Nakamura 6-2 6-3 in just over an hour.
