Darrell Hair has been cleared to take charge of top international cricket matches again after 18 months in the wilderness.

The Australian, 55, accused Pakistan of ball-tampering during the 2006 Brit Oval Test between England and Pakistan.

Pakistan's captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq, refused to take his players back on to the field and, for the first time in 130 years of Test cricket, a match was forfeited with England declared the winners.

The ball-tampering charge was thrown out by the International Cricket Council and Hair was reduced to standing in minor matches.

But according to the London Evening Standard, Hair has been restored by the ICC providing he went through a rehabilitation programme.

Hair could be back in charge for a Test match in England this summer.
