Stamina proved the order of the day as Ballyfitz collected the Pertemps Final for Nigel Twiston-Davies. Paddy Brennan gave the 18-1 shot a patient ride but was close up throughout as Glacial Sunset and Miko De Beauchene battled it out for the lead. Ballyfitz took the lead at the third last and he steadily opened up an advantage, although Robert Walford put up a brave fight on Miko De Beauchene.Skybet Get a free £50 matched bet during the Cheltenham Festival! The Welsh National winner refused to be beaten and battled all the way to the line, only for Ballyfitz to come home three lengths clear. "He won superbly at Haydock last time and we thought he would do the same here. We're very, very pleased," Twiston-Davies told Racing UK. "He has been very good. He's back over hurdles - we tried him over fences once - and he's been great. "A brilliant ride for Paddy but it's what we have come to expect. We're fed up with the thirds. We've had two thirds and just wanted something to win. Now watch out for Knowhere."
According To Pete was two and a quarter lengths behind Mike De Beauchene in third with Mobaasher in third. |
