Amir Khan splits with trainer @ Tuesday 29 April 2008, 09:21 AM

A number of America's leading trainers are looking to work with Bolton boxer Amir Khan after the Commonwealth lightweight champion split with Oliver Harrison.

Khan has been working with the Salford-based Harrison since his final days as an amateur - with the 21-year-old winning all 17 of his fights as a professional.

However, their three-year association was brought to an end on Monday, with Khan deciding now was the time to make the break - although an official announcement is due later in the week.

A spokesman told The Bolton News: "It is nothing personal with Oliver and we hope to stay friends but Amir needs to go up to the next level."

Roger Mayweather, Buddy McGirt and Freddie Roach are believed to be in the frame to take over in Khan's corner, with the highly-talented Olympian desperate to win a world title.
