British number one edges closer to Wimbledon success

Third seed Andy Murray was cut to 9/4 (Paddy Power) to win the Wimbledon Men's singles after he cruised into the semi-finals on Wednesday.

The British number one, who had never gone further than the quarter-final stage at teh All England club, breezed past Spanish wildcard Juan Carlos Ferrero, winning 7-5 6-3 6-2 on Centre Court.

"It's great and I'm very happy to come through in straight sets," said Murray afterwards. "To get to the semis is nice and I will try my best to go further."

The Scot will play either sixth seed Andy Roddick or 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt for a place in Sunday's final where he will play either Tommy Haas or tournament favourite Roger Federer.
