2011 French Open tips - can Rafael Nadal be stopped on clay?

The 2010 US Open may be the next Grand Slam on the tennis calendar, but betting is underway on whether Rafael Nadal can continue his superb run on clay at next year's French Open

Sky Bet make Nadal 2/1 to win the next three French Open titles following his superb showing earlier this year that cemented (no pun intended) his status as the King of Clay.

It may seem like a short price to many, but given Nadal's form on clay at Roland Garros this year as well as his impressive performances in the build to the 2010 French Open, it is hard to see when the Spaniard will be beaten on his favourite surface, and who will be the one to end his dominance.

For us, we have absolutely no problem backing Nadal to win the 2011 French Open, where he's already odds-on favourite with all bookmakers we could find a price with. Victor Chandler, who are offering new customers a £100 free tennis bet, offer a best price 4/9 on Nadal winning next year's clay Grand Slam, and that is a price we don't see getting any bigger, barring any long-term injuries or unlikely sudden loss of form.

As for Nadal's chances of recording wins at the French Open at 2012 and 2013, although far from being impossible, at odds of just 2/1, it's a price we think is too short to recommend, although Sky Bet are offering a £5 no deposit free bet to new customers. No doubt it will be of interest to some of Nadal's backers, but given his track record of injuries, we'd rather back the Spaniard at his current odds for success in 2011.
